The aim of this event is twofold. First, it is to bring together researchers working on optimal control of state-constrained dynamical systems, with an emphasis on sweeping processes and related fields, trying to foster new scientific relations. Secondly, it is to promote this field of optimization among graduate and undergraduate students. For these reasons this event will include two mini-courses on sweeping processes and optimality conditions.
The scope of the conference is mainly concerned with (but not limited to):
Giovanni Colombo (Padova, Italy)
Cristopher Hermosilla (Valparaíso, Chile)
Emilio Vilches (Rancagua, Chile)
UPDATE: Unfortunately, professor Lionel THIBAULT won't be able to travel to Chile, and he will be replaced by professor Giovanni COLOMBO (Università di Padova, Italy).

The School-Workshop Control of State-Constrained Dynamical Systems will take place in Valparaíso from the 24th to 27th of September 2019 at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. Lectures and talks will be held at the Auditorio Principal located in the A-Building on the campus.
The main entrance of the campus is via Portería Avenida España (Avenida España 1680, Valparaíso Chile), which is located within distance walking from the Valparaíso Metro station called Portales.
Warning: To reach the A-Building on the campus from Portería Avenida España you will have to climb around 100 stairs.
Public transport: Another alternative to reach the campus is to use UBER or CABIFY, which you can share with other participants. In the streets there are not many taxis and they are expensive. If you can ask for a taxi in your hotel probably will be cheaper, but to use UBER or CABIFY is our recommendation. If you do so, ask the driver to take you to Portería Placeres (Avenida Placeres 401, Valparaíso Chile), from there you go downhill to the A-Building on the campus.
We have made a pre-booking at special rates for the workshop participants (breakfast included). The hotel list is below:
Address | |
---|---|
Hotel Monterilla | Dos Norte 65, Viña del Mar |
Hotel Ágora | Cinco y medio Poniente 253, Viña del Mar |
Both hotels are located within distance walking from the Valparaíso Metro station called Miramar.
A Social Dinner will take place on September 26, 2019 in the Araucanian fusion restaurant Ilo Mapu.
In the area around the Hotel Monterilla and Hotel Agora there are several restaurants and bars. In the following link there are some recommended restaurants and bars for the evening meals: Recommended restaurants and bars in Viña del Mar
Greater Valparaíso is the third largest metropolitan area in Chile and Chile's second most populated administrative region. The agglomeration is composed of several communes (Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Concón, Quintero, Quilpué and Villa Alemana), and each is governed by its respective municipality.
Valparaíso and Viña del Mar are located about 120 kilometres (75 miles) northwest of Santiago by road, and have a warm-summer Mediterranean climate influenced on the coast by the Humboldt Current. Winters are damp and cool with daily high temperatures ranging from 13 to 17 °C (55 to 63 °F) and from 5 to 9 °C (41 to 48 °F) at night, rarely falling below freezing. Spring can vary from mild to cool.
Valparaíso is one of the South Pacific's most important seaports. The Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaíso is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural significance. For more turistic information see the video below or visit the website: Valparaíso
Viña del Mar (meaning "Vineyard of the Sea") is located north to Valparaíso and is one of the most turistic cities on central Chile's Pacific coast. Often referred to as La Ciudad Jardín ("The Garden City"). For more information see the video below or visit the website: Viña del Mar
